This bolo tie is Helen's first piece of jewelry, made in the spring of 1990. She gave to Marc, who was then her boyfriend. Helen was working as a leather worker before being offered the opportunity to apprentice as a jeweler. Immediately, she had to design and fabricate her own styles. They had to be extremely high quality to even be offered in a top designer jewelery gallery, located in downtown Santa Fe. It was an extremely difficult time and her daily bread depended upon her quick learning curve.
