The Celtic Tribes
Who were the original Celts? well, that covers a lot of ground. Much more than is attributed to them today. Modern thinkser think of Celts as those who inhabit Great Britain, Ireland, Bretony, primarily with the rest scattered to the four winds with many landing in Canada, the USA and Australia and New Zealand.
But in the ancient world, the Celts comprised a large number of tribes and bands. Each had its own language, religion, territory, customs and superstitions. This far flung grouping runs from the gambit of Eastern Europe and Western Asia to The British Isles, North to the Arctic Circle and South into the Mediterranean. Current scientific research using DNA and RNA is showing that even those we know of today as Russian have their roots in the lands of the Celts.
In this blog, I will attempt to showcase a tribe and give some information on them along with the area they mainly lived in. Very little is known comparatively of the Celtic peoples as they maintained an oral tradition in most everything it seems. Many of the names of these tribes are often attributed by other tribes and peoples so the name they called themselves may have been quite different, similarly to the type of thing which happened to the native peoples of North America.
