I will share a story about a man called Johan Kaaven who was a Noaidi, who once met a troll whale (Noaidi is a shaman of the Sami people).
Johan Kaaven was fishing with his neigborh Amund Andersen. It was normal that other noaidies sent bad magick to each other. So there was one other noaidi who sent a troll whale towards him, cause he wanted a revenge of something Kaaven had done to him. The whale came faster and faster towards him and the boat. The neighbor Amund rows towards land and Kaaven tries to get the whale away with flailing an oar. Nothing helps! Then Kaaven, in the last hope, calls upon the powers and promises that he will be good and help other people with his powers if the troll whale disappear. And on the same time the troll whale disappeared! After that day, he became a christian man and he helped many people with their illness.

This is a true story of a man who lived from 1835 to 1918. I've heard this story from my grandmother. But it is writed in a book about him too.

Whales are mystical animals, some Natice Americans of the coast say, the whale symbolizes the breathing of the earth. For me whales are mystical animals can one look into the soul like wolves. The whale stands for power but also for family. Whales are something special.

In 2007, I watched as a pod of whales frolicked there way past the Ferry terminal in Campbell River BC Canada. No fee was paid no boat created chaos as a spectator sport whale watching has become. Just grace and beauty and freedom to do as they pleased. I watched as a representative of the Campbell River Museum in awe and blessed the moment I saw them. I have been drawn to the whale as my totem for three decades now. I have drawn them, I have painted them in ceramic form and I never ever forget the gift of sight that one day as I watched them in the place they call home. Blessings <3

WHALE represents my passion in life - that which I invest immense energy into in order to bring my fullest service into the world. I speak of "Whaleness" daily, share the concept with my clients, and utilize the Whale energy as a touchstone for recharging my life.

When my kids were little we always adopted a mother and baby every year. I hung their pic of the mother's flukes on the wall and we followed their stories for years. It was an excellent way to talk about sentient beings, good mothering, whale midwives and breastfeeding ocean style. The fact they aren't human did not make them any less of mothers or caring parents.

When I lived in Hawaii I could see the whales from the volcano. The shear beauty and grace of the whale is absolutely breath taking.

And, although I've never experienced a live whale up close, I have seen a few through binoculars, spouting as they migrated along the Oregon Coast.
I am grateful Whale is a Totem of mine ;)

To me this whale pendant symbolizes a killer whale or an orca. She is the queen of all of Earth's oceans. She is the largest mammillian predator capable of bringing down a great white shark! Her species do not fight over food or territory. Orcas take only what they need to survive. Yet they do defend their own podmates. The oldest female is the leader of the pod and her children never leave her side for their entire lives. She is such a great teacher that her kind have survived and thrived for 11 million years. If this is not the true meaning of the power of the female, I don't know what is! I ask that orca swim with me everyday so that I too can be a great mother and teacher and remain in my children's hearts forever. This pendant puts orca into our hearts.
